Caving tours in Vietnam

Vietnam might be the best country in the world for caving and speleology. Why? It has the first, third and fifth biggest cave in the world! Besides that that are thousands of other caves to explore. And for every adventure grade. For people that want to easily explore a cave with nice walking paths or by boat through an underground river, and for people that want to go abseiling, swimming, kayaking or even camp in a cave!

In Phong Nha Khe Bang National Park you can find Hang Son Doong, the biggest cave in the world. A caving tour in this cave cost $3000 and takes 5 days. An amazing experience, but with the cost and the amount of days not for everyone. But luckily there are lots of other caves.

Phong Nha cave, the cave that gave the name to the park and Paradise cave are the two most popular caves. A tour to Phong Nha cave brings you on a boat over a river to the water cave. A short part of the cave you do by boat and you can explore a part of foot. Paradise cave has one of the most impressive stalagmites and stalactites. It is a huge cave that you can explore by walking over nice footpaths.

The Dark cave tour is for the adventure travellers. The cave itself is not very impressive, but there are lots of activities you can do, including the longest zip line in Vietnam. The cave is full of mud, so it is a totally different experience than other caves in the National Park.

Caves like Hang En, Hang Va and Tu Lan cave are often part of a 2 or 3 day caving expedition. It includes hiking through impressive jungle and rivers to the entrance of the cave. Hang En is the most stunning cave of the national park with a huge entrance and a small lake where you can camp inside the cave! Hang Va cave and Tu Lan cave have a lot of adventurous activities with abseiling and swimming.

But the karst mountains you can find in Phong Nha Khe Bang National Park can be found all over central and northern Vietnam.
