Booking a trip with Local Vietnam: how it works

Booking with Local Vietnam is simple, transparent, and personal. Every tour and custom trip is designed by people who live in Vietnam and know the country well. From your first message to the final day of your journey, our team takes care of every detail.

This page explains how booking works, for a short tour and for a complete Vietnam trip.

Send or confirm your booking

You can either:

Book instantly: Select your date, number of travelers, and options to get an instant price and immediate confirmation.
Request a booking: Fill in the short form (recommended) or contact us via WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger. We reply within one working day, and often sooner on WhatsApp, with availability and the price.

Check the details

Once your booking or request is confirmed, we’ll send a short summary of your tour details, pick-up information, and what’s included. You can ask questions or request small changes before final confirmation.

Pay

Most tours require full payment at the time of booking. For certain tours, we can arrange a deposit option on request, with the balance paid before the tour starts.

Tours booked directly on our website are paid at the checkout, by card through PayPal. Tours booked on request are paid with a PayPal payment link from your travel expert, or by bank transfer in VND, USD, EUR, CAD or AUD. Card payments have a 3% card fee.

Receive your confirmation and travel details

After payment, you’ll receive your official confirmation and all practical details, such as meeting points, pick-up times, and guide contact. For multi-day tours, we send your itinerary again 1 or 2 days before departure, with the latest updates.

Booking a package tour or tailor-made trip

Share your travel plans

You can start from one of our Vietnam package tours and tell us what to change. Or you can tell us your travel wishes from the start. Share your interests, preferred travel dates, budget, and group size through our website form, WhatsApp, or email.

Receive your proposal

Our local travel experts design a detailed itinerary based on your input. It includes recommended destinations, activities, accommodations, and estimated costs. You receive your first proposal within 48 hours.

Adjust it together

We adjust the itinerary until it fits you. You can make as many changes as you like: add days, change hotels or choose another comfort level, until the trip fits your travel style and budget.

Confirm and pay the deposit

Once you’re fully happy with your itinerary, we’ll ask for a 30% deposit to confirm all reservations (hotels, domestic flights, and activities). The remaining balance is due one month before the start of your trip. If you book within one month of the start, you pay the full price at once.

You pay by bank transfer in VND, USD, EUR, CAD or AUD, or by card with a PayPal payment link from your travel expert (a 3% card fee).

Receive your final itinerary and tickets

After the deposit is received, we finalize all bookings. About three weeks before the start of your trip, you’ll receive your complete itinerary with confirmed details, hotel contacts, and any domestic tickets.

On package tours and tailor-made trips, you’ll receive a local SIM card with data once you are in Vietnam, for easy communication and navigation. Your Local Vietnam travel expert stays in touch on WhatsApp during your whole trip and helps with questions or changes at any time.

Payments

Booking safely

Local Vietnam is a fully registered Vietnamese travel company. All payments are made directly to our company bank account or through PayPal for credit card payments (a 3% card fee). Both options are secure, traceable, and protect your booking.

Paying for tours

For day tours and multi-day tours, payment is usually made in full at the time of booking. On request, you can sometimes pay a deposit first and the rest before the tour starts.

Paying for package and custom trips

A 30% deposit confirms your booking so we can reserve accommodations, domestic flights, and activities. The remaining 70% is due one month before the start of your trip. A trip booked within one month of the start is paid in full at once.

Paying by credit card

Credit card payments are processed through PayPal, offering an extra layer of protection. Day tours booked directly on our website are paid at the checkout; you do not need a PayPal account. For tours booked on request, package tours and tailor-made trips, your travel expert sends you a PayPal payment link. A 3% card fee applies.

Paying by bank transfer

You can also pay by international bank transfer directly to our Vietnamese business account. You find our bank details on our payment page. Check them there before you pay.

Currencies

We accept payments in VND, USD, EUR, CAD and AUD through our multi-currency accounts. If your currency is not one of these five, send one of them, or ask your travel expert which is best.

Invoices and confirmations

After every payment, you’ll receive an official invoice. For package trips, we also send a summary of all confirmed bookings once your deposit is received.

Questions about booking

Can I book tours and custom trips at the same time?

Yes. You can combine any of our day or multi-day tours within a custom-made itinerary. Your travel expert will merge them into one coordinated trip with a single invoice.

How far in advance should I book my trip?

We recommend booking at least two months in advance, especially for custom itineraries or travel during high season. Last-minute bookings are possible but depend on hotel and guide availability.

How long does it take to receive my booking confirmation?

Instant-booking tours confirm automatically. For request-based or custom trips, our team replies within one working day, and often sooner on WhatsApp.

Can I change my itinerary after booking?

Small adjustments are often possible, especially if made early. For custom trips, changes depend on hotel and transport availability. Contact your travel expert as soon as possible to check options.

What if something unexpected happens before my trip?

Our cancellation terms apply to every cancellation, also when you are ill, your flight changes or your visa is late. That is why we recommend travel insurance with cancellation cover.

Do I need travel insurance before booking?

Travel insurance is your own responsibility. It is not included in our packages. We recommend insurance that covers medical costs and repatriation, cancellation, and the activities on your trip, such as motorbike tours.

Will I get help during my trip in Vietnam?

Yes. On package tours and tailor-made trips, every traveler receives a Vietnam SIM card for easy data access and 24/7 WhatsApp support from our local team throughout the trip.

What’s the difference between a deposit and full payment?

For tours, payment is usually made in full at booking. For custom or package trips, a 30% deposit confirms your trip, and the remaining balance is due one month before the start of your trip. If you book within one month of the start, you pay in full at once.

Can I pay with multiple methods or from multiple accounts?

Yes, that’s possible for couples or groups. Just inform your travel expert so we can track payments correctly and issue a single invoice.

How can I be sure I’m booking with the real Local Vietnam?
