Sapa’s Glass Bridge, also known as Cau Kinh Rong May, is a stunning structure located at Tram Ton Pass. This remarkable site can be a nice half-day trip from Sapa, offering you the chance to experience the highest glass bridge in Vietnam.
Sapa’s Glass Bridge: Cau Kinh Rong May
The highest glass bridge of Vietnam
Opened in November 2019, Cau Kinh Rong May isn’t just a bridge; it’s an experience. Soaring over 2,000 meters above sea level, it holds the title of the highest glass bridge in Vietnam. While it’s not the longest, its 60-meter length and 5-meter width provide ample space to marvel at the breathtaking views below.
The elevator up
You have two options to reach the bridge: a challenging 3-hour hike or a swift elevator ride. The elevator is highly recommended, not just for its convenience, but for the panoramic views it offers through its glass walls. If you prefer a mix of exercise and ease, consider a one-way elevator ticket up and a leisurely walk back down.
Viewpoint over Tram Ton Pass
The true magic of Cau Kinh Rong May lies at its end, where a 360-degree panorama of the Tram Ton Pass unfolds. This is the highlight, a scene that words can’t truly capture. A glass path along the cliffside adds an extra layer of thrill, allowing you to feel like you’re floating among the clouds. Imagine the photos you’ll take here!
Visibility
Timing your visit is key for optimal visibility. For a chance to witness the ethereal beauty of cloud hunting, plan your trip between November and February. If clear blue skies are your priority, aim for the months between June and September. Altough these months are part of the rainy season, these months also have the days with most hours of sun.
Kitchi photo spots
Cau Kinh Rong May is adorned with numerous kitschy objects designed for photo opportunities. These include statues of deer, an infinity pool (for photos only, not swimming), and various types of stairs and bridges.
While some may find these elements fun for photography, others might feel they detract from the natural beauty of the mountains.
Not the longest glass bridge in Vietnam
While Cau Kinh Rong May is a marvel, it’s not the longest glass bridge in Vietnam. That title belongs to Bach Long Bridge in Moc Chau, which also holds the world record of longest glass bridge in the world. If you’re eager to experience both, be prepared for a separate trip from Hanoi, as Moc Chau is not within close proximity to Sapa.
Adventure games
Besides the glass bridge, there are several adventure games you can do at Cau Kinh Rong May for an extra fee (see prices here).
Cloud Bridge
The Cloud Bridge offers a thrilling experience as you walk over a suspension bridge. You’ll be securely harnessed and attached to a safety rope as you traverse to the other side.
Rope Cycling
For those seeking an adrenaline rush, rope cycling is an exhilarating activity. You’ll cycle over a narrow rope, high above a canyon, while securely fastened to a safety rope.
Zipline
The zipline adventure takes you soaring over the canyon, giving you a bird’s eye view of the stunning scenery. Safely strapped in, you’ll glide from one side of the canyon to the other, experiencing the thrill of speed and height in a safe environment.
Rock Climbing
Rock climbing at Cau Kinh Rong May is perfect for adventure enthusiasts. With safety equipment and experienced guides, you can climb the rugged rock faces, enjoying both the physical challenge and the stunning vistas.

Is it safe?
The Sapa Glass Bridge is designed with safety as a top priority. Constructed from three layers of crystal-clear tempered glass, each with a thickness of 7 cm, it’s incredibly sturdy. In fact, it can support up to 3,000 people at once. However, to ensure a comfortable experience, a maximum of 500 people are allowed on the bridge simultaneously.
The glass elevators that transport you to the bridge are equally safe. Each elevator carries up to 30 people and travels at a moderate speed for your peace of mind. The elevators themselves offer stunning views through their three glass walls, adding to the excitement of your ascent.
Is it worth visiting?
That depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re already exploring the Tram Ton Pass, a stop at the bridge can be a fun addition to your itinerary. But it’s not worth sacrificing a day of trekking through Sapa’s picturesque rice terraces.
On a clear day, the views from the bridge are undeniably spectacular, but there are equally impressive (and free) viewpoints along the Tram Ton Pass. The entrance fee is relatively high for a Vietnamese attraction, though the scale and engineering of the bridge make it somewhat understandable.
If you’re passionate about capturing Instagram-worthy photos, seeking a unique thrill like walking on glass high above the road, or craving adrenaline-pumping activities like ziplining and rope cycling, then the entrance fee is likely worth it for you. However, if your focus is on immersing yourself in Sapa’s natural beauty, you won’t miss out by skipping the bridge and enjoying the free viewpoints or more affordable cafes along the pass.
