Kenh Ga floating village & hot spring

Kenh Ga floating village, or also named Chicken Village, after the wild chickens that used to live here, is situated in a beautiful setting in Ninh Binh. Take a three hour boat trip to visit the village and discover the beautiful nature were it lies in. You can ride a bike along the dike with views on the countryside or enjoy a herbal bath in Kenh Ga hot spring.

From the village of Me, 20 kilometer northwest of Ninh Binh, you can take a three-hour boat trip to Kenh Ga floating village and the Trinh Cave. This trip is still not done by many travelers and much quieter here than in Tam Coc.

Kenh Ga consists of stone houses on either side of a canal. The houses are made of local material like limestone. The ‘floating village’ has a beautiful location, with limestone rocks in the background. Kenh Ga also has a hot water source.

On the water are sailing all kinds of boats. The small boats are peddled by feet, just like a recumbent bike. The peace is only sometimes disturbed by dynamite explosions in the limestone rocks.

You can explore Kenh Ga by walking through the village and learning more about the daily life of the locals. You see children going to school, villagers fishing and houses hanging on cliffs along the river.

Van Trinh Cave

The boat docks also at a dike, for a half-hour walk to the Van Trinh Cave. The dike drives through rice fields where women plant rice and men graze ducks. Van Trinh is a large cave and has several rooms with stalagmites. The cave is electrically illuminated.

Kenh Ga hot spring

The Kenh Ga hot spring is around 1 km from the village, were the hot water flows down from the mountain. The hot spring has there been for ages, but it wasn’t until the the French colonist were using it to for bathing. Now you can find here the Ke Ga hot spring resort. Here you can take a bath in hot water tanks with temperatures around 40 degrees C, cold water tanks with 26 degrees C and medicinal baths.

When you come to Kenh Ga hot spring resort, you can swim in large hot mineral pools with a capacity of 50-70 people with 16 very powerful hot tubs. Bathing and feeling the breeze from the Hoang Long River blowing in. If you want to have a private, quiet space, you can switch to the area of ​​herbal bath and adjust the temperature to your liking.

How to get there

From Ninh Binh to Kenh Ga

The village is located around 25 km from Ninh Binh City and Tam Coc. Best way to get there is either by taxi or renting a motorbike if you are an experienced driver.

From Hanoi

From Hanoi you first need to travel to Ninh Binh, around 100 km. There are day tours, multiple day tours, buses and trains to Ninh Binh.
