Tour information

The 4-day Ha Giang Loop by motorbike can be done year-round. The longer route offers more flexibility, meaning each season has its own appeal:

  • Autumn (Sep–Nov): clear skies, dry weather, excellent views
  • Spring (Mar–May): mild temperatures, green mountains
  • Summer: lush landscapes, dramatic cloud formations
  • Winter: cooler, quiet, and atmospheric

As you ride with an experienced local driver, routes are kept safe and adjusted to weather conditions when needed.

For the 4-day motorbike tour, the following luggage options apply:

  • Backpacks are securely strapped to the motorbike
  • Small suitcases are possible; large hard-shell cases are not
  • Free storage in Ha Giang for luggage you do not take along
  • In Hanoi, luggage storage is possible if you return to the same hotel

Riding distances on this longer tour are well balanced, allowing for a relaxed pace and more time to explore.

  • Day 1: approx. 3.5 hours riding
  • Day 2: approx. 3.5 hours riding
  • Day 3: approx. 2 hours riding
  • Day 4: approx. 4 hours riding

While riding hours seem limited, days are filled with sightseeing: viewpoints, walks, villages, photography, coffee stops, and markets.
This 4-day version focuses on relaxed travel and enjoying the scenery.

During this Big Loop, you take part in a short and accessible trek of about 4 km.

  • Duration: 2.5–3 hours
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Trails: well maintained, also after rain
  • Suitable for: anyone with normal fitness

The trek passes through villages far from known routes — one of the reasons this 4-day tour is so distinctive.

We can fully accommodate vegetarian, vegan, and allergy-related meal requests. Please inform us at booking so arrangements can be made with the lodge and local kitchens.

Safety is the foundation of our 4-day Ha Giang Loop tour by motorbike:

  • Most roads are paved and have safety barriers
  • All drivers are experienced locals with years of riding experience
  • They ride at a calm, relaxed pace
  • If something feels uncomfortable, the driver adjusts immediately

In extreme weather (storms, landslide risk), the tour is postponed or canceled with a 100% refund

The 4-day motorbike tour almost always runs as planned. In case of rain, rain gear is provided, and the relaxed riding style keeps the journey comfortable and safe. Only in rare extreme storms do we reroute or reschedule.

For the Big Loop, we recommend:

  • Light rain or wind jacket
  • Comfortable layers (mountain weather changes quickly)
  • Long trousers
  • Closed shoes (no flip-flops or sandals while riding)
  • Camera or phone + power bank
  • Comfortable walking shoes (light shoes are sufficient)
  • Cash for personal expenses
  • Clothes and toiletries for 4 days
  • Backpack or soft bag that can be secured to the motorbike

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the 3-day and 4-day Ha Giang Loop by motorbike?

The 3-day Loop is the most popular option and focuses mainly on the biggest highlights. The first two days of both the 3-day and 4-day tours are largely the same, covering the most iconic scenery.

From day 3 onward, the 4-day Loop becomes more relaxed. Riding hours are shorter, and the focus shifts to quieter areas with fewer visitors. This creates time for small hikes, villages, homestay moments, time at our lodge, and swimming at waterfalls. If you want less rush and more depth, the 4-day option is the better choice.

Yes. This motorbike tour is led by experienced local drivers who have been riding these mountain roads for many years. They know the seasonal road conditions and adapt speed and route when needed. Because the 4-day Loop is less rushed than the 3-day version, the pace is calmer with more time for stops. In case of storm warnings or unsafe conditions, the tour does not run — you receive a full refund or a new date.

Not at all. On this 4-day route, you see everything other tours cover, but staying two nights at our lodge actually allows you to do more — such as a relaxed trek through villages without tourists. The extra day gives us space to take alternative roads instead of constantly moving hotels. The result is a more varied route with less rush and more depth.

No. Lung Cu is mainly known as “the northernmost point of Vietnam,” but beyond that it is not very special. The village has become touristy, and the large new structure has changed much of the landscape.
Instead, we focus on quieter routes, better viewpoints, and more authentic villages. If you still wish to visit Lung Cu, we can add it — this Easy Rider tour is private and flexible.

Backpacks can be securely strapped to the motorbike. Medium-sized bags are also possible, but large hard-shell suitcases are not recommended. We offer free luggage storage in Ha Giang City. If you return to the same hotel in Hanoi after the Loop, luggage storage there is usually possible as well.

This route is designed by people who live here and ride these roads daily.
It combines:

  • major highlights such as Ma Pi Leng Pass
  • alternative roads most tours skip
  • a trekking route to villages far from tourist paths
  • two nights at our own lodge
  • extra time to travel at a relaxed pace

Many routes are copied. This one is not — it is one of the most varied and locally focused 4-day motorbike tours.

Yes. You travel privately with your own driver(s). You set the pace, stop whenever you like, and can adjust the route along the way. Group tours are only available for the 3-day option, which follows a different route and does not include our lodge.

Yes. The base route is fixed, but adjustments are easy along the way. The extra time in the 4-day Loop actually makes flexibility easier than in the 3-day version. Want to stay longer somewhere or add a photo stop? That’s no problem.

No. The trek is suitable for anyone with normal fitness. Trails are solid and easy to walk, even after rain.
Distance: 4 km
Duration: 2.5–3 hours
What makes it special is that it runs completely outside standard tourist routes.

Yes, self-riding is possible — but only if you meet all legal and safety requirements. You ride your own motorbike alongside the local drivers, while others can ride behind.

To ride yourself, you need:

  • a valid motorcycle license (A / A2)
  • an International Driving Permit (IDP)
  • recent experience on similar motorbikes

If you meet these conditions, let us know at booking and we will arrange a suitable motorbike.

No license or limited experience? Then you ride behind a local driver — the safest and most relaxed way to do the Ha Giang Loop by motorbike.

There is no official age limit. The key factor is whether someone can sit comfortably and safely on the motorbike. We regularly run this tour for teenagers, couples, families, and travelers over 65. If unsure, just contact us.

Yes. Rain and mist are normal in the mountains, and drivers adapt immediately. Only in cases of extreme weather or severe storms do we cancel the tour — safety always comes first. In that case, you receive a full refund or a new date.

You sit behind an experienced local driver who takes care of navigation, safety, and pace. You simply relax and enjoy the ride. With four days, there is time for stops, small detours, village visits, and roads that cars cannot access. It is one of the most comfortable and adventurous ways to explore Ha Giang.
