Option 1
Homestay Experience + 1 Extra Day
[Most Recommended]
Depart early in the morning from Hanoi on the day before you start the Easy Rider Ha Giang Loop (Day 0). You travel from your hotel in Hanoi to Ha Giang by comfortable luxury limousine bus.
You arrive in Ha Giang in the afternoon and stay in an authentic village just outside the city, where local people still live their daily lives. The afternoon is free to explore the village and surrounding rice fields. The village belongs to the Tay ethnic minority, known for their traditional stilt houses. You stay overnight in a local homestay, where you will be picked up the next morning to start the Ha Giang Loop.
Cay Homestay
An authentic Tay homestay in Thôn Thả Village, surrounded by water, nature, and traditional stilt houses. Rooms are simple but comfortable, with views of tropical surroundings. Staying here offers a genuine village experience among ethnic communities and rice fields. Private bungalow-style rooms are available for the comfort option, while the standard option includes clean and spacious dormitory rooms.
Option 2
VIP Limousine Sleeper Bus
Bus travel can be tiring, but for a small additional cost you can upgrade to a VIP limousine sleeper bus. Seats are significantly wider and more comfortable than standard sleeper buses, making the journey much more relaxed.

We can arrange a private car transfer from Hanoi or other destinations in Vietnam directly to Ha Giang.

Dag 1: Ha Giang → Quan Ba → Yen Minh → Aya Lodge
Stop 1
Ha Giang City – Start of the Road Trip
In the morning, your Easy Rider picks you up in Ha Giang City. Helmet on, protective vest fitted, luggage secured on the back of the bike — and you’re ready to start one of the most scenic road trips in Vietnam. From the very first kilometers, you ride through rugged mountains, sharp hairpin turns, and small river crossings that give you a real sense of northern Vietnam.

Bac Sum Pass
The first major climb is Bac Sum Pass. The views are already impressive here, but this is only a preview of what the 3-day Ha Giang Loop still has in store.
Stop 3
Quan Ba Heaven Gate – Two Viewpoints
At the top of Quan Ba Pass, you stop for a warm coffee or hot chocolate while looking out over the clouds.
You then continue to a second viewpoint, where a short walk up the stairs leads to the iconic Twin Mountains — two nearly identical limestone peaks rising from the karst landscape.
Stop 4
Yen Minh Pass, Lonely Tree & Lunch in Yen Minh
Your Easy Rider continues along a long, quiet mountain pass, passing the famous Lonely Tree. In Yen Minh village, you stop for lunch before continuing deeper into the mountains.
After lunch, you turn onto a lesser-known road toward Mau Due — an alternative route followed by very few Ha Giang Loop car or jeep tours.
Stop 5
M-Shape Turn Viewpoint
After a series of tight hairpin bends, you reach a viewpoint overlooking the M-shaped road you’ve just ridden. A perfect photo stop and a great example of how an Easy Rider tour takes you beyond standard routes.
Lunch
Arrival at Ha Giang Aya Lodge
You arrive at Ha Giang Aya Lodge by Local Vietnam, one of the most unique mountain lodges along the Ha Giang Loop, combining comfort, nature, and local culture.
Stop 6
Afternoon Trekking (Unique Local Route – 4 km / ±3 hours)
In the afternoon, you join a trekking route that no other Ha Giang Loop tour offers. The walk leads through quiet mountain villages, open viewpoints, and landscapes rarely visited by travelers. It’s a relaxed, not-too-difficult hike that shows a more authentic side of Ha Giang.
Stop 7
Sunset at Aya Lodge
By late afternoon, you return to the lodge. From the restaurant terrace, you enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets in Ha Giang — possibly in all of northern Vietnam. The rest of the evening is free to relax before dinner.
Optional Extra Day: Exclusive Local Vietnam Trekking from Aya Lodge
Want to make your Easy Rider Ha Giang Loop even more special? Add an extra trekking day: a 12 km hike through quiet valleys, hidden villages, and viewpoints you won’t find elsewhere. This route is exclusive to Local Vietnam, starts directly from our lodge, and avoids all other travelers. A full day of walking, photography, and immersion in one of the most beautiful parts of Ha Giang.

Dag 2: Aya Lodge → Meo Vac → Ma Pi Leng Pass → Dong Van → Aya Lodge
(Note: If Day 2 falls on a Tuesday, you can visit a local market in the morning.)
Stop 1
Aya Lodge → Meo Vac (Market Options)
After breakfast, your 3-day Easy Rider Ha Giang Loop tour continues. The road toward Meo Vac is one of the most scenic mountain routes in northern Vietnam.
- On Sunday, you visit the large ethnic market in Meo Vac.
- On Tuesday, you explore the local market near the lodge — smaller, quieter, and even more authentic.
Stop 2
Ma Pi Leng Pass + Skywalk
From Meo Vac, you ride onto the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass, without doubt the most famous mountain pass in Vietnam. Your Easy Rider stops wherever you like for photos.
You also walk a section of the Ma Pi Leng Skywalk to a viewpoint overlooking the deep canyon below.
Stop 3
Canyon Boat Trip
Next is a boat trip through the dramatic canyon beneath Ma Pi Leng. Steep limestone cliffs, emerald-green water, and silent valleys make this one of the absolute highlights of the Ha Giang Loop.
Stop 4
Dong Van – Lunch & Old Quarter
You arrive in Dong Van for lunch, followed by time to explore the Old Quarter with its historic houses, narrow alleys, and small cafés.
Stop 5
Hmong Palace (Vuong Family Palace)
You visit the former palace of the Hmong king. The detailed woodwork, inner courtyards, and stories connected to the opium trade make this an interesting historical stop.
Stop 6
Sung La Valley & Pao’s House
Continue through the beautiful Sung La Valley, stopping in small villages along the way to meet local ethnic communities. You can also visit Pao’s House, a traditional Hmong home over 100 years old.
Stop 7
Tham Ma Pass
The iconic S-shaped curve of Tham Ma Pass is a must-see. Your Easy Rider knows the best viewpoints for photos along this stretch.
Stop 8
Back at Aya Lodge: Hot Tubs & Dinner
By late afternoon, you return to the lodge. Time to relax with mountain views, optionally in our wood-fired hot tubs. In the evening, a freshly prepared dinner is served at the lodge.
Dag 3: Aya Lodge → Off-the-Beaten-Path Routes → Lung Tam → Ha Giang City
Stop 1
Nham La Pass & Terraced Rice Fields
The final day of your 3-day Easy Rider Ha Giang Loop tour focuses on lesser-known roads and untouched landscapes. You start with Nham La Pass, a quiet and scenic route featuring some of the few terraced rice fields found along the Loop.
Stop 2
French Watchtower Ruins
A short stop at the ruins of an old French watchtower from the colonial period. The remains are photogenic, and the views over the surrounding mountains and valleys are impressive.
Stop 3
Alternative Backroads
You turn onto small backroads rarely used by travelers, riding through silent valleys and remote villages that feel completely off the beaten path.
Stop 4
Lung Tam Village (Hmong Weaving)
Visit Lung Tam Village, a Hmong weaving community where linen has been produced by hand for generations. An interesting cultural stop and a good place to see traditional techniques and locally made products.
Stop 5
A Boong Waterfall (Weather Permitting)
Along the alternative route, you may stop at A Boong Waterfall, depending on water levels. This hidden waterfall is not part of the classic Ha Giang Loop itinerary and offers a refreshing swim when conditions allow.
Stop 6
Arrival in Ha Giang City – End of Tour
By late afternoon, you return to Ha Giang City, where your Easy Rider Ha Giang Loop tour ends. Time to rest before traveling back to Hanoi or continuing to your next destination.

Best time to do the Ha Giang Loop
The 3-day Ha Giang Loop with Easy Rider can be done year-round. The most popular months are September to November and March to May, thanks to clear views and pleasant temperatures. Summer brings lush green mountains, while winter is cooler, quieter, and atmospheric. As you ride on the back of the motorbike with an experienced local Easy Rider, the route is always adjusted to weather conditions to ensure safe travel.
Luggage
For the Easy Rider tour, you can bring the following:
- Backpacks (including large ones) can be securely tied to the motorbike
- Small suitcases may be possible; large hard-shell suitcases are not
- Free luggage storage is available at our office in Ha Giang
- If you return to the same hotel in Hanoi, luggage storage there is also an option
Distances & Driving Time
Daily distances are not long, but you are on the road most of the day due to stops, viewpoints, sightseeing, and short walks.

Although actual riding time is limited, the days are full. This tour is about experience, not speed.
Trekking
This 3-day Easy Rider tour includes a short trek of around 4 km (2.5–3 hours).

- Trails: solid and non-slippery, also manageable after rain
- Elevation: limited ups and downs, no steep sections
- Level: suitable for anyone with normal fitness
The trek passes through villages rarely visited by travelers and is one of the most unique parts of this tour.

How safe is the Ha Giang Loop with an Easy Rider (riding on the back)?
Safety is our top priority. Our Easy Riders ride at a calm pace, have no rushed schedule, and are all from the local area. They know every corner, village, and road condition. In case of bad weather, we immediately adjust the route.
If Ha Giang is affected by a tropical storm, we cancel the tour — you receive a 100% refund or can choose a new date. Thanks to our local presence, we know exactly when it is safe to ride.
Most Ha Giang Loop tours stay in a different place every night. Do I miss anything by staying two nights at your lodge?
No — quite the opposite. You don’t miss anything. Our route includes all major highlights such as Ma Pi Leng Pass, Tham Ma Pass, and Dong Van, while adding unique sections that standard loops completely skip.
You also do a trekking route where no other travelers go. Staying two nights at our lodge means more variety and more unique experiences, not less.
This route does not go to Lung Cu. Am I missing something?
No. Lung Cu is a typical “check-the-box” stop. While it marks the northernmost point of Vietnam, the views and atmosphere are often disappointing. The surrounding villages are largely focused on mass tourism, and the large modern pagoda has impacted the landscape.
Our route focuses on authentic villages, real landscapes, and quiet alternative roads. If you really want to visit Lung Cu, that’s possible — it’s a private tour, so we can adjust the route.
Can I bring large luggage on this Ha Giang Loop tour?
In most cases, yes. Large backpacks can be secured on the back of the motorbike. Small suitcases may also be possible, but very large hard-shell suitcases are not.
No worries — we offer free luggage storage in Ha Giang City. If you return to the same hotel in Hanoi after the Loop, luggage storage there is also an option.

We have carefully designed the route to combine highlights with unique alternatives. But since this is a private tour, adjustments are always possible — even during the ride.

Is the trekking difficult?
The trekking is manageable for most travelers.
There are some ups and downs, but no extreme elevation changes. Most of the trail is solid, unpaved ground that remains walkable even after rain.

Can I ride the motorbike myself during this tour?
No. This tour is done on the back of the motorbike with an Easy Rider driver. Riding yourself is only possible on a separate self-drive motorbike tour, which requires experience and the correct motorbike license.
The Easy Rider option is safer, more comfortable, and ideal for travelers who want to enjoy the scenery without risk.
Are there age limits for riding with an Easy Rider?
There is no official minimum or maximum age. What matters is that someone can sit comfortably and safely on the back of a motorbike for longer rides.
We regularly host families with teenagers as well as travelers aged 65+, who do this without any issues.
Can I do the Ha Giang Loop year-round? What about rain or fog?
Yes, the Ha Giang Loop is possible year-round. Rain is usually not an issue — Easy Riders immediately adjust their riding style.
Only in case of severe tropical storms (with risk of landslides or flooding) do we cancel the tour. Safety always comes first. In that case, you receive a 100% refund or can choose another date.
