Evening: Sleeper train to Sapa
At 10:00 PM, board the comfortable Dream Train Express from Hanoi to Sapa. You’ll travel overnight in a shared 4-berth cabin with air-conditioning, cozy bedding, and storage space under the berth. The cabins are styled with Sapa-inspired decor for a bit of local charm as you head into the mountains.
Optional transfers: Prefer not to take the train? You can swap for a VIP sleeper bus, a daytime limousine bus with an extra night in Sapa, or a private transfer from other locations — just let us know your preference.
Begin your Sapa adventure with the overnight Dream Train Express, where comfort meets charm on the rails. Step into a cozy cabin with plush beds, wooden accents, and warm lighting that creates a peaceful atmosphere as the train gently rocks you to sleep. As the city fades into the night, you’ll journey through quiet countryside and misty valleys under the stars. By morning, you’ll arrive in Lao Cai feeling refreshed and ready to explore the majestic mountains of northern Vietnam.
Arrive early at Lao Cai train station, where a minivan will take you up the mountains to Sapa town. You’ll have access to a shower and luggage storage before sitting down for breakfast to start your day refreshed.
Settle into your hotel in Sapa for a relaxing night. Accommodation is clean, comfortable, and conveniently located — a welcome break after your first full day in the mountains.
Maison de Sapa is a cozy hillside retreat offering a peaceful escape just outside the main bustle of town. Rooms are spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed, many with private balconies overlooking the valley. With warm hospitality, delicious daily breakfast, and support for local bookings and transport, it’s an ideal base for a relaxing stay in Sapa.
After breakfast, you’ll set off on a scenic trek through the famous terraced rice fields of Sapa. You’ll visit ethnic minority villages, learn about local customs, and take in the dramatic mountain landscapes. There are three trekking routes to choose from, depending on your interest and fitness level:
Option 1: Classic Muong Hoa Valley (easy–medium)
Follow a popular trail through Y Linh Ho, Lao Chai, and Ta Van villages. This route winds through the beautiful Muong Hoa Valley, home to Black H’mong and Zay communities. The paths here are a mix of back roads and small trails alongside rice fields and streams.
Option 2: Family-friendly valley walk (easy–medium)
Take a quieter route from Giang Ta Chai to Ban Ho, with the chance to meet members of the Tay ethnic group. This option includes some paved roads and is a good fit for families or those who prefer a less challenging walk with just as much scenery.
Option 3: Off the beaten path (medium–difficult)
For a more remote experience, trek from Su Phan to Ban Ho and Thanh Phu — two Tay villages less visited by travelers. This option takes you deeper into the valley on narrower paths through terraced fields and more rugged landscapes.
After your trek, return to Sapa for some rest and dinner. In the evening, you’ll be driven to Lao Cai station to catch the overnight train back to Hanoi.
Alternative return options: You can also return by VIP sleeper bus, limousine day bus (with extra night in Sapa), or private car. Just ask when booking.
The overnight journey aboard the Dream Train Express offers a comfortable and charming return to Hanoi after your mountain adventures. Relax in a private sleeper cabin with soft bedding, warm lighting, and classic wooden interiors that evoke the romance of slow travel. As the train quietly winds through the darkened hills, you’ll drift off to sleep to the rhythmic sounds of the rails. Arriving in Hanoi in early morning, well-rested and refreshed, it’s the perfect way to transition from Sapa’s highland calm to the capital’s vibrant energy.
No technical gear is required. Regular sports shoes or walking shoes with grip are fine for these trails. If you'd like a walking stick, we can help you arrange one locally.
The Dream Train Express offers 4-berth shared cabins with air-conditioning and clean bedding. It’s a popular and practical way to travel between Hanoi and Sapa.
Yes, this tour is family-friendly, especially if you choose the easier trekking route. We recommend discussing the best option for your child’s age and ability with us before booking.
Sapa is around 1,500 meters above sea level — most people don’t experience altitude sickness here. However, you might notice slightly cooler air or shortness of breath during uphill sections.
Toilets are available at village stops or homestays along the way. Facilities are basic, so it’s a good idea to bring tissues and hand sanitizer.
Yes, we can arrange private transfers or adjust the itinerary if you're coming from another city like Ha Giang or Lao Cai. Let us know your travel plans in advance.
The tour continues in light rain, but trails can get muddy. We recommend wearing waterproof shoes and bringing a rain jacket. In case of severe weather, the itinerary may be adjusted for safety.
